Before We Killed Them
Before we killed them
They used to be green with life
Waving branches to Life
They used to laugh seeds
All over the earth
Now they struggle to live
In pots, without depth
Axes set on their necks
When the earth is free
Before we killed them
They used to rise higher than hills
Though at the depth of hills
They housed beautiful creatures
Swimming in blue joy
Now the struggle against plastics
Toxics and catches
Spilling their homes
Reducing their descendants
Before we killed them
They walked the earth
And inherited the earth
Because they were meek
They bent to our rods
Yet we ripped them of their worth
For jingle and ruffle in our pockets
They become pictures and stories
We are like them
Before we killed them
