The Unwelcomed Guest

Her fangs are lifeless,

But not unexpected.
Her thoughts are morbid,
But that was always intended.

If only we could read what the palm says,
And prepare greatly for her visit,
But then, pain and sorrow are always invited.
It's not her fault, they say, but we will not listen.

For she is not welcome,
Nonetheless, she will come visiting
When it is time for life to shed its skin.

Like a king, she will eat and drink,
She will take and leave,
For her, it's just a routine,
But for the host, it is the end.
